FOR FIRST TIME APPLICANTS FOR STEP 1 ONLY: The score will be valid for 45 days and for a single certification. SJSM must receive your online USMLE Step 1 application through ECFMG within 45 days. If we do not, you will be required to retake and pass the exam.
IMPORTANT UPDATE REGARDING FORM 186: ECFMG has updated the Certification of Identification Form (Form 186) which now must be completed by NotaryCam. For more information on how to apply for the USMLE exams please see the ECFMG links below:
FOR REPEAT STEP 1 APPLICANTS: The score is only valid for 30 days and for a single certification. Within 30 days, SJSM must receive a your online USMLE Step 1 application from ECFMG. If we do not, you will be required to retake and pass the exam.
Once you are approved by the school, you may sit for the Step 1 exam at any time during the eligibility period provided to you by ECFMG. However, if you fail or do not sit for the exam during the eligibility period provided, you will be required to re-apply for a new Step 1 eligibility period and will be required to retake and pass the NBME before the new application will be approved. You will only be permitted to sit for the Step 1 exam 3 times.
